New Client Evaluation Expectations
Our Personal Trainers are excited for you to begin your fitness journey with us here at Chadwick’s Fitness & Performance Training. Each of our clients will start his or her training off with a personal training evaluation. If you do not already have your evaluation scheduled, give us a call at 615.915.4181 to get started.
Upon arrival, a front desk staff member will direct you to our seating area until your trainer is ready to begin. We have full locker rooms with private showers, and at the front desk we have beverages and macronutrient friendly snack options available for purchase.
Here’s what to expect once you begin the session:
HEALTH & FITNESS HISTORY
First, your personal trainer will ask you questions about your health history and about your past fitness journey. Be prepared to be detailed with your experiences, success, struggles and frustrations. To further assist with this, please have that client intake form complete.CARDIO
Next our personal trainer will take a quick measurement of your heart rate and blood pressure. A decrease in your resting heart rate and blood pressure is expected with training and correlates strongly to other health benefits.
PICTURES
We strongly recommend taking photos before your training begins, and then again around the 12 week mark (with or without your trainer) to see measurable changes in body composition. We will have you take four photos: one facing forward, one from both sides, and one from behind with you facing away from the camera. We take these with you standing in front of a “posture grid” because we are also taking photos to evaluate more than just your physique. Wear whatever you feel your best in!
CIRCUMFERENCE MEASUREMENTS
For this assessment the personal trainer will use a tape measure on various parts of the body to measure inches lost or gained between evaluations.
FITNESS
Next the personal trainer will put you through some exercises to measure your baseline fitness level. These exercises include a push up variation, a squat variation, a plank, and an incline treadmill walk. We will be sure to demonstrate how to perform each exercise safely or provide a regression if necessary.
FMS
The last assessment you will do is called the Functional Movement Screen (FMS). The FMS is a tool that we use to analyze various movement patterns to see areas of weakness, limitations, and imbalances. Analyzing these patterns allows your trainer to personalize your program and address these areas to prevent pain/injury.
